Introduction:
During my life I have travelled by car, rail and air to many states and territories throughout Australia. I have enjoyed driving this continent the most. Satisfying the "wonder lust" is, I believe, in heritant in all of us. In some it lies dormant and in need of awakening; in others it is rampant and demanding and can never be fully satisfied. Fortunately for us all, Australia offers a lifetime of travel opportunities and the freedom to take advantage of those opportunities. Together with my wife Marion I have choosen to spend the last 40+ years towing various forms of mobile accommodation behind whatever vehicle I possessed at the time. I have been lucky enough to own two 4x4 vehicles and I believe I have obtained sufficient experience to set out for the readers of this blog my experiences and advice. I must emphasize that I acquired a great deal of knowledge from reading magazine, books and the internet. Over the years I have undergone an intensive certified 4x4 course and obtained much practical experience in all types of terrain, including sand, mud and plain old dirt. I have been a member of and served on the Executive of a 4X4 Club; and it was during this time that I wrote several articles which were published in the local community magazine. I plan to re-produce those articles here, together with some added experiences and comments. If you are an expert in the fields of 4X4 driving and caravan travel, then you need read no further; this content will be old hat to you. If you are just starting out or have limited experience, I hope you will find what follows of some use.
